Plot summary
Dave Anderson cracks safes and Manny Durrell runs confidence games, and neither has ever been caught. Dave owns a nightclub, and Manny lives with his girlfriend Nikki McLean on the proceeds of an earlier swindle. A retired Chicago detective, Joshua Burke, has the evidence to put both of them behind bars, and offers a bargain instead: five years at an inner-city youth center, helping teenagers from the slums find work. Lila French, who coordinates the center, takes the two men for benefactors. The class they inherit is rowdy and openly rude to its teacher, Sarah Thomas. Manny takes charge of the teenagers, and Dave looks for jobs for them through his contacts.
