Plot summary
Arnie Blondestone, a reporter, listens while David Wong recounts the supernatural events afflicting his city. Some time earlier, David and his friend John attend a party with Fred Chu, Justin White and Amy Sullivan, whose hand was amputated, and learn that Amy's dog, Bark Lee, went missing after biting Robert Marley, a dealer who poses as Jamaican and claims to know things about David. John then shows David a syringe of a black drug called Soy Sauce, which he got from Marley; it grants inhuman knowledge and drops the user into alternate dimensions and timestreams. David accidentally stabs himself with the needle. A stranger, Roger North, then appears in the car and puts a creature down the back of David's shirt.
