Plot summary
A postal carrier delivers a wrapped package to the home of Jeff Ashton. Inside he finds a human arm. Jeff calls Doctor Ray Sanders, and the two men go over the caving trip of five years before. A cave-in traps them with other explorers, and to keep from starving the group cuts off the arm of a companion, Ted Rogers. Rescue comes just after. The men tell the authorities that the cave-in cost Ted the arm, and they say nothing about the knife. Jeff and Ray look for Ted. They bring in Mark Richards, once one of the cavers and now a police detective. Mark tracks down Ted's daughter, Teddy Rogers, who at first refuses to help them find her missing father.
