Bill Thornbury
Biography
Bill Thornbury is an actor and musician who studied music at California State University at Fresno and later taught in Northern California. His screen career began with a small role in Barbara Peeters's independent film Summer School Teachers (1975). His breakthrough came when he played Jody Pearson in Don Coscarelli's Phantasm (1979), the character he remained most identified with. He composed and performed the country ballad Sittin' Here at Midnight for the film. During the 1980s he concentrated more on music, though he appeared in Secrets of Midland Heights (1980) and took a small part in The Lost Empire (1984). He later returned as Jody for Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead (1994) and Phantasm IV: Oblivion (1998). Thornbury also worked as a songwriter on staff at 20th Century-Fox in Los Angeles and at MTM Records in Nashville, and he performed with The Sons of the San Joaquin.
