Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.

  • Hammer Films planned a Vampirella movie for 1976, auditioning Caroline Munro and Valerie Leon; Barbara Leigh impressed producers so much they exclaimed "That's her, we've found her at last!" and Peter Cushing was cast as Pendragon.
  • Barbara Leigh, who nearly played Vampirella in Hammer's canceled film, sued James Warren for using her publicity photos without payment and settled for $500; she later said Vampirella was the role she is most recognized for.
  • Jim Wynorski acquired the Vampirella rights from Harris Comics, who didn't know they held them, and after Batman became a hit Harris tried to renege until Wynorski threatened to sue.
  • Gary Gerani's second draft for Vampirella would have needed a $40 million budget, but Showtime gave the production only $1 million, forcing it to be scaled back.
  • Roger Daltrey took the role of Vlad Tepes/Jamie Blood to honor his late Who bandmate Keith Moon, a Vampirella fan who introduced him to the character, and Daltrey also composed the film's song "Bleed for Me".
  • Talisa Soto's comic-accurate Vampirella costume photographed well but fell off whenever she ran or did action sequences, so it was changed for the film.
  • Filming in Las Vegas took place in 110-degree heat, with a thief on set stealing money and everyone up all night gambling, which director Jim Wynorski called "a mess" where everything went wrong.
