Biography

Ajay Naidu, an American actor and director, is best known on screen for Samir in Office Space (1999). A native of Evanston, Illinois, he trained at Harvard University through the American Repertory Theater's advanced theater program. His first professional job came from an open call and placed him opposite Michael Keaton in Touch and Go (1986). After years in classical theater from 1988 to 1995, he returned to film with Richard Linklater's SubUrbia (1996), earning an Independent Spirit Award nomination for best supporting male. His movie work includes Pi (1998), Requiem for a Dream (2000), K-PAX (2001), The Guru (2002) and Bad Santa (2003). On television, he was a regular on LateLine and appeared in The Sopranos and The West Wing. He directed Ashes, released in 2010, and won best actor honors at the MIACC Film Festival in New York plus the London Asian Film Festival.
