Plot summary
Cleopatra hides a treasure beneath the Sphinx and places a curse on it. In the present, Prince Omar leads a project to restore the Sphinx, and Velma Dinkley is on the team. They uncover an ancient necklace and a tomb connected to Cleopatra. Her friends in Mystery Inc. make a surprise trip to Egypt. Their van breaks down in the desert, and Amahl Ali Akbar, with his hawk Horus, helps them reach the site. They meet Rock Rivers, host of the canceled show Fear Facers, who comes to Egypt to look into Cleopatra's curse. The gang reunites with Velma, then treasure hunters arrive, led by Dr. Amelia Von Butch. Velma warns that the curse turns all who enter the tomb to stone, but Amelia's group uses explosives on the entrance. A sandstorm drives everyone inside.
