Plot summary
Tommy Pickles and the other babies and their families are about to leave on a tropical cruise courtesy of Tommy's father, Stu, but at the pier they find the ramshackle boat he rented instead, and they are angry that he did not consult them. A tropical storm and a rogue wave overturn the boat, and everyone climbs onto a life raft as the ship goes down, blaming Stu. The next morning they come ashore on a small island in the South China Sea, and the grown-ups nominate Betty as their leader. Across the island, the Thornberrys are filming a clouded leopard. The children, except Angelica, go looking for Nigel Thornberry, hoping he can help them get home. Chuckie gets lost and meets Donnie Thornberry, and Eliza Thornberry, who can talk to animals, meets Spike.

- Nancy Cartwright voiced Chuckie Finster in Rugrats Go Wild, the only film to do so, after original voice actress Christine Cavanaugh retired in 2001.
