Plot summary
Falk lives in the ruins left by a nuclear holocaust, where bands of animal-like creatures called ravagers kill the survivors they find and terrorize those who remain. When the creatures murder his wife, he turns vigilante against them. He finds a small community of survivors led by Rann, living aboard a ship anchored offshore. Two kinds of people remain in this world: the Ravagers, the mutated marauders, and the Flockers, the civilized ones. The group hears of the Land of Genesis, a rumored safe haven where they might live in peace, and Falk joins the survivors in heading for it.
