Plot summary
The Barden Bellas have taken the ICCA national title three years in a row, led by senior Beca Mitchell and Chloe Beale, a three-time super senior. At a command performance for President Barack Obama's birthday at the Kennedy Center, Fat Amy rips her pants onstage, and the resulting scandal leaves the group suspended. Beca works out a deal: the Bellas can be reinstated if they win the A Cappella World Championship, which no American team has ever taken. Freshman Emily Junk, whose mother Katherine once sang with the Bellas, arrives at the sorority house and performs a song she has written, and the group invites her in. Das Sound Machine, the German group led by Kommissar and Pieter Krämer, has replaced the Bellas on the victory tour and is favored at the Worlds.
