Biography

Ben Platt is an American actor and singer known for his work on Broadway and in film. Born in Los Angeles, he began performing in musical theater as a child before landing roles in major stage productions, including The Book of Mormon. He created the title part in the Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen, and his performance won him a Tony Award, a Daytime Emmy, and a Grammy. Platt later returned to that character for the 2021 film adaptation. His screen credits include Pitch Perfect (2012), Pitch Perfect 2 (2015), Ricki and the Flash (2015), Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk (2016), and Theater Camp (2023), a comedy he also co-wrote. He has starred in the Netflix show The Politician, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination, and portrayed Leo Frank in a 2023 Broadway revival of Parade, earning another Tony nod. As a recording artist, he has released the albums Sing to Me Instead, Reverie, and Honeymind.
