Ester Dean
Biography
Ester Dean is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, and actress who grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and started singing as a child. In her teens she moved to Omaha, where she sang sessions and wrote for local musicians, and at 20 she headed to Atlanta to build a career as a songwriter. Producer Christopher Tricky Stewart signed her to a publishing deal, and she later moved to Los Angeles and joined Zone 4 Records under Interscope. Drop It Low, her 2009 debut single as a lead artist, reached number 38 on the Billboard Hot 100, but her real breakthrough was writing Rihanna's chart-topping Rude Boy with Stargate. She went on to pen hits including Firework and Super Bass, contributed to the Rio soundtrack in 2011, and in 2022 sat on the American Song Contest jury for Oklahoma. She played Cynthia Rose in Pitch Perfect (2012), Pitch Perfect 2 (2015), and Pitch Perfect 3 (2017).
