Plot summary
In Monte Carlo, Monaco, several couples' paths cross. Augie Morosco, a reformed gambler, is there while his wife Elena closes a business deal. Neil Schwary hopes to win big at the tables, and his wife Marilyn wants to shop for designer clothes. Julian Peters and Phoebe met in Rome, where they found a lost dachshund named Napoleon, and they have come to return the dog to its wealthy owner, Madam Van Dougan, and split a reward. When Madam Van Dougan is found murdered, the visitors' dealings with her and with one another start to look suspicious, and Inspector Bonnard has clues to untangle.
