Plot summary
Abby Jensen keeps a list of wishes she has been adding to since childhood, and her sixteenth birthday is the day she expects them to come true. Wasps force her family out of the house, and she writes her crush Logan in as wish sixteen. A woman named Celeste appears, each time in a new disguise, and hands Abby sixteen candles with a matchbox. Every candle grants the numbered wish on the list, from a meeting with the celebrity Joey Lockhart to a car. Jay Kepler, her best friend, gives her a necklace as a gift, and her rival Krista Cook, who shares her birthday, goes up against her at school.
