Plot summary
A decorated Royal Marine who saw service in Northern Ireland, Harry Brown is now a widowed pensioner on a London council estate taken over by drug dealers and youth gangs. He spends his days at the hospital bedside of his dying wife, Kath, and playing chess in Sid Rourke's pub with his only friend, Leonard Attwell. After Kath dies, Len admits that local hoodlums have been harassing him and that he now carries an old bayonet for protection. He is found beaten and stabbed to death in a pedestrian underpass. Inspector Alice Frampton and Sergeant Terry Hicock arrest the gang leader Noel Winters and three others, then release them for lack of evidence, which leaves Harry convinced that no court will give Len justice.
