Plot summary
Jimmy Conlon, known in his mob days as the Gravedigger, now spends his nights drinking. The closest person to him is Shawn Maguire, the boss he once served. Jimmy's grown son Mike drives a limousine, mentors kids at a gym, and keeps his father away from his wife and daughters. Shawn turns down a proposal to let Albanian dealers sell heroin in his territory; the Albanians, who paid Danny Maguire a fee to arrange the deal, want their money back. Mike chauffeurs the two Albanian creditors to Danny's house, where Danny shoots them. Detective John Harding has spent years trying to tie Jimmy to a long list of homicides.

- Warner Bros. acquired Brad Ingelsby's script The All-Nighter for a six-figure sum, and the title was changed to Run All Night when director Jaume Collet-Serra became attached, with Liam Neeson locked in to star by January 2013.
- The film's audience was 52% female, a share considered high for an all-male cast action film, and 86% of it was over the age of 25.
- Junkie XL composed the score, saying he found it more interesting to look at the movie from an emotional point of view instead of an actioner point of view; it was recorded at the Eastwood Scoring Stage at Warner Bros. Studios with a 70-piece string orchestra and a large low brass ensemble.
