Miley Stewart performs as Hannah Montana, the pop star whose fame is taking over her life. Tabloid reporter Oswald Granger hears Hannah hint at a secret and sets out to uncover it. A fight over a pair of shoes in a store makes headlines and makes Miley late for the Sweet Sixteen party her friend Lilly Truscott is throwing at the pier, where Miley arrives as Hannah and draws the whole party's attention. Her father Robby decides the celebrity life has gone far enough. He lets the publicist Vita book a jet for an awards show, then puts Miley on a flight to Crowley Corners, Tennessee, for two weeks and her grandmother Ruby's birthday.
