Princess Rosalinda of Costa Luna is preparing for her coronation when General Magnus Kane, dictator of neighboring Costa Estrella, invades her palace. Joe Mason, a Princess Protection Program agent, flies her out by helicopter, while Kane's agents capture her mother, Queen Sofía. The program hides Rosalinda in Lake Monroe, Louisiana, in Joe's home. His tomboyish daughter Carter works at a bait shop after school and hopes Donny will take her to the homecoming dance.
