Miley Cyrus
Biography
Miley Cyrus is an American singer, songwriter, and actress who found early fame as a Disney Channel star. Born in Franklin, Tennessee, she played Miley Stewart on Hannah Montana beginning in 2006 and saw the show's soundtrack top the Billboard 200. Her early albums Meet Miley Cyrus (2007) and Breakout (2008) also reached number one, and Party in the U.S.A. proved one of her most successful singles. She voiced a role in Bolt (2008), earning a Golden Globe nomination for the song I Thought I Lost You, and starred in Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009), The Last Song (2010), and So Undercover (2012). Her album Bangerz (2013) produced Wrecking Ball, her first number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and she later explored rock on Plastic Hearts (2020). The 2023 album Endless Summer Vacation included Flowers, which brought her two Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year. She also coached on The Voice and appeared in Black Mirror.

Big break
At thirteen, Cyrus tried out for Hannah Montana as Miley Stewart's best friend, but was asked to read for Miley Stewart instead. She was first denied the part for being too small and too young, then cast for her singing and goofy acting.
A role that slipped away
Cyrus was one of two finalists for a role in The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D, but chose Hannah Montana instead.
A first
With Plastic Hearts entering the Billboard 200 at number two, Cyrus set a record for the most top-five albums on that chart by a female music artist during the 21st century.
