Plot summary
Izzy Daniels is a Brooklyn boxer whose father, Kenneth, a former Golden Gloves champion, coaches him toward the same title. Their neighbor Mary Thomas leads a Double Dutch team called the Joy Jumpers, and she and Izzy argue constantly even though each is drawn to the other. Izzy's younger sister, Karin, loves Double Dutch and pulls him toward the sport. When teammate Yolanda Brooks quits the Joy Jumpers for their rivals, the Dutch Dragons, Mary persuades a doubtful Izzy to take her place. He trains with the team before school without telling his father, and his jump rope work improves fast while his boxing suffers.

- The film was originally set to star Raven-Symoné and to be named Double Dutch, but because of the actress's busy schedule at the time it was revamped into Jump In! with Corbin Bleu.
- During the film's final contest an actual champion Double Dutch team from Brooklyn makes a cameo: they just happened to be in Toronto for a tournament at the same time the movie was being filmed.
- Actress and singer China Anne McClain auditioned for and won an undisclosed role in the film, but turned it down to star instead as Jazmine Payne in Tyler Perry's House of Payne, after catching Tyler Perry's attention.
- Jump In! broke the record set by The Cheetah Girls 2 as the highest rated Disney Channel Original Movie premiere with 8.2 million viewers, a record beaten later that same year by High School Musical 2 with 17.24 million.
