Plot summary

Victor Frankenstein and Elizabeth, a married pair of scientists, give life to Adam, a grown man who is handsome and healthy but has the mind of an infant. His cells fail to replicate correctly, and deformities spread across his face and body. Victor tries to end him, first with lethal injections and then by choking him. Adam survives. He escapes into a nearby forest, lives by scavenging, and adopts a stray dog. In a park, he meets Molly, a small girl, and the two toss sticks into a lake. Adam throws Molly in as part of the game, and when she begins to drown he leaps in and brings her back to shore. Police arrive, try to take him in, and shoot the dog. A vigilante mob chases him, calling him a monster.
