Plot summary
A Rembrandt is stolen from a New York City apartment in December 1999, and insurance investigator Virginia Baker looks into the theft. She tells her boss, Hector Cruz, that she suspects Robert MacDougal, a thief who steals for the challenge, and Cruz sends her after him. In London, MacDougal spots Baker trailing him and confronts her. She says she is a thief herself and needs his help to take the valuable Chinese mask kept at Bedford Palace. To prove herself, she obtains the palace floorplans, and MacDougal takes her to his castle in Scotland to prepare for the job. There the two train together, and their mutual attraction grows alongside their distrust.
