Plot summary
Nelson Crowe, a former CIA officer, joins Vic Grimes's Seattle firm, known as The Toolshed. The business uses ex-intelligence personnel to sell extortion and corporate espionage to corporations. Grimes's deputy, Margaret Wells, starts collaborating with Crowe and seduces him. She proposes that they kill Grimes and seize control of the firm. The Toolshed's biggest client, Curl Industries, is defending a class action lawsuit over water contamination that caused birth defects. Crowe and Wells force the company's CEO, Walter Curl, to resign by catching him with his niece, Wanda. Grimes hands Crowe a million dollars to bribe a justice, Justin Beach, in the pending appeal.
