Plot summary
Parker is a thief with a code: he does not rob people who cannot afford the loss, and he never harms the innocent. His mentor Hurley asks him to lead a job with a crew new to him: Melander, Carlson, Ross and Hardwicke. Hardwicke changes the plan, a fire starts and a man dies. Parker declines the jewel robbery the crew proposes and asks for his share. Hardwicke shoots him and the crew leaves him at the roadside. Parker survives and turns up in Palm Beach, where real estate agent Leslie Rodgers shows him houses.

- Donald E. Westlake, who created Parker in the 1962 novel The Hunter, always refused to let any adaptation name the character Parker unless producers agreed to adapt all the novels, which is why Lee Marvin portrayed the character as Walker in Point Blank and Mel Gibson portrayed Porter in Payback.
- Statham, a former diver for the British Olympic Team, performed all of Parker's stunts in the film, including jumping out of the window of a fast-moving car; Hackford said he was "nervous when he went out that window" five or six times before the scene was finished.
- The rights to the Parker name only came free in 2008, following Westlake's death, when his widow, contacted by television producer and longtime acquaintance Les Alexander, agreed to sell the rights to one Parker novel, with the option of several more if the first film was successful.
- The studio required critics attending press screenings to sign an agreement that none of their reviews would appear in print before the film opened.
- Long after its cinema run, Parker premiered on Netflix in the United States in March 2021, and a week later was briefly the #1 film on the streaming service.
- In the novel Flashfire, Leslie was not of Cuban descent; however, Hackford cast Lopez in the role and decided to re-write her as Cuban, hiring the Italian-American Patti LuPone to play her "domineering" mother.
- In another scene Statham had to hang off a building's balcony, and the actor said he took a "real beating" from these scenes, blaming the wire he wore, which got in the way of filming, made things feel "restricted" and ripped up his arms.
