Plot summary
Nick Dunbar works undercover for the police. His brother Matt is accused of killing a teacher, Mr. Bradwood, at Matt's high school. Nick clashes with Hechtor, the detective handling the case, and is suspended from duty. Nick's partner Ed passes himself off as the father of the twenty-four-year-old Nick so that Nick can enroll as a student and get people talking. Matt gives him advice on how to manage that. Back in class, Nick faces bullies, girls with crushes on him, and a staff whose behavior runs from odd to bizarre. He also meets Robin Torrence, a teacher who takes him for a real teenager.
