Plot summary
After World War II, Giff Hoyt runs a cafe in Cabo Blanco, Peru, a town that holds both Nazi refugees and the men pursuing them. A sea explorer is found dead, and the corrupt local police rule the death accidental, an account Giff does not accept. Police Captain Torredo also intimidates Marie-Claire Allesandri, a newcomer, and Giff intervenes on her behalf. Among the refugees in the area is Gunther Beckdorff.
