Plot summary
Coleman Ettinger, an elderly professor, runs a meditation exercise in his yard with his wife Gena. He believes that if the two of them reach a meditative alpha state together, they can live together forever. Nearby, high school student Bobby Keller is fixated on Lainie Diamond, who dates Joel. One night Bobby runs through a backyard shortcut and collides with Lainie just as the Ettingers near the completion of their experiment. Both teenagers are knocked unconscious, and a body switch takes hold among the four of them. Bobby wakes in his own bedroom, where his parents and his friend Dinger ask if he is all right. The person inside is Coleman, who does not know them. He goes out to find Gena, cannot locate her, and comes back, unable to make sense of what has happened.
