Plot summary
Fictional talking heads discuss the events of 2020 in a mockumentary, mixing true information with satire. The dominant subjects are the COVID-19 pandemic in Britain and the United States and the American presidential election. The earlier months bring the Australian bushfire season, Greta Thunberg's speeches on the environment at the World Economic Forum, Prince Harry and Meghan's withdrawal from the British royal family, and the Oscars. Among those interviewed are Jeanetta Grace Susan, Duke Goolies and Dr. Maggie Gravel.

- Death to 2020 was written with a team of writers over four months and shot across 10 days in late November in London and Los Angeles. Because of the pandemic it used minimal crews, with some actors in production bubbles, and each actor filmed for only one day.
- Unlike his Wipe specials, Charlie Brooker does not appear on screen in Death to 2020; he instead plays a director asking the talking heads questions, partly because non-UK audiences were not expected to know his appearance.
