Plot summary
Anne, a college student, arrives for her first shift at a filling station open all night near Haddonfield, Illinois. Bill, the worker leaving, tells her a serial killer has escaped from a mental hospital and warns her to keep the keys, since the booth door locks by itself. Richard Coberts, a middle-aged businessman worried about his thinning hair, answers a television ad for a transplant and meets Dr. Lock. Brent Matthews, an aging minor league player, agrees to an experimental eye transplant after losing his right eye in a car wreck.

- Showtime planned Body Bags as a series in the vein of HBO's Tales from the Crypt, but dropped it shortly after filming began; the three finished stories were then strung around John Carpenter's morgue narration and became an anthology film.
- John Carpenter said he took on Body Bags to have the experience of playing in make-up, expecting it to be fun; it was not, because it took hours every day to get him into that make-up.
