David Naughton
Biography
David Naughton is an American actor and singer who studied drama at the University of Pennsylvania and then trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, making his professional debut with the New York Shakespeare Festival in a production of Hamlet. He first became widely known during a four-year stint in the Dr Pepper commercials of the late 1970s and early 1980s, which won Clio awards, and he later starred in the sitcom Makin' It and sang its theme song, a Top 5 hit. His first film was the Disney comedy Midnight Madness (1980), and he took the lead in An American Werewolf in London (1981), a hit with critics and audiences whose Rick Baker makeup won the first Academy Award for Best Makeup. He went on to steady work in lesser known films and television guest roles, including a recurring part on My Sister Sam from 1986 to 1988.
