Plot summary
Roy Rogers is a border inspector on the Mexican line, alert to silver brought over from the old mines. Mexican friends tell him one of their own has word of a silver mine on the American side, and the man is shot by the mine's guards, who leave a piece of rich ore on his body. The owners of the American mine say they play rough, with no town or lawman anywhere near them. Into that country comes Lee Madison, a writer of Western mysteries whose work Roy and his friends take as ridicule of the West, and Sheriff Cookie Bullfincher works the case alongside him. From England arrives Lionel Bates, saying Scotland Yard wants George Wallingford Lancaster, an English national.
