Biography

Pat Brady was an American actor and musician known for comedy, best remembered as the comic sidekick of the cowboy star Roy Rogers. Born in Toledo, Ohio, he first took to the stage when he was four, appearing in Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch. While playing bass in California he became friendly with Leonard Slye, a country singer with the Sons of the Pioneers, and when Slye became Roy Rogers, Brady took his place in the group and the name Pat. He entered films in 1937 as comedy relief in Charles Starrett Westerns for Columbia, then moved to Republic in the early 1940s, where he played Sparrow Biffle, a camp cook, in Rogers's films. Brady was a regular on The Roy Rogers Show on radio and played himself on its television version from 1951 to 1957, and in 1962 he supplied humor for The Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Show.
