Andy Gates

Andy Gates is an American actor who has worked in film and television. He trained at Emerson College and the American Conservatory Theatre, and also studied at The Actors Workshop in Boston. His teachers included Ron Max, Susie Landau, Cliff Osmond, Michelle Danner, and Rick Pagano. His breakthrough screen role came in The Cleaning Lady (2005). On stage, he made his major debut in 1990 in the American Conservatory Theatre's annual production of A Christmas Carol. That run took place at the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco because the Geary Theatre had been damaged in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. A 2005 National Geographic special was to feature him as a tourist from Oklahoma who was trapped on the Bay Bridge during that same quake. Gates specializes in everyday characters, and his likable, boyish presence obscures a real love of horror, the genre that first drew him to acting.
