Trailer

Plot summary

Philip Hannon is blind, writes plays, and lives in a flat in London that looks out on the Thames. Sitting in a pub one day, he catches only fragments of a nearby conversation, and what he hears suggests a crime in the making and a kidnapped child. He brings his account to Inspector Grovening, who offers no help, and the police take the matter no further. Hannon decides to track down the people behind the scheme himself, joined by his butler and by Jean Lennox, the American woman he was once engaged to. The few words he overheard send the three of them to a nanny agency.
