Plot summary
Haven, an officer with Army intelligence, arrives in disguise in a frontier mining and logging town to look into the killing of two cavalrymen carrying a shipment of gold on the road. The hotel clerk sings him a warning about women and gold. Mrs. Caslon owns the mine that lost the shipment, and talk in town points to someone called Charlie. Haven is drawn to the saloon singer Charlie, whose bouncer he beats in a fight, and she offers him work hauling gold. Her friend Prince grows jealous of her interest in Haven, and her lawyer Bristow is deep in her debt.
