Christian Grey has nightmares about his abusive childhood after Anastasia Steele leaves him. She takes a job assisting Jack Hyde at Seattle Independent Publishing, where the assistants before her have all quit. At a photography exhibit by her friend José Rodriguez, the pictures on the walls are of Ana, and someone has bought every one. Christian asks for another chance and agrees to her condition of no rules and no punishments. He tells her his birth mother was addicted to crack.
