Plot summary
Bea Johnson is the child of two parents with intellectual disabilities, Sharon and Derek. As she grows from a small child toward high school graduation, her extended family members offer conflicting ideas about how she should be raised and supported. In her senior year, she is left comatose, and the film looks back across her life, including her relationship with Ethan, a fellow student.
