Plot summary
Paul Fournier vanishes on a polar expedition in 1905. Sixty-five years later a scientific expedition finds his body in the ice, and professor Édouard Loriebat brings him back to life. Hibernation has kept him unchanged, a man of ninety. Edmée de Tartas, born Fournier, is his granddaughter. She urges her husband Hubert Barrère de Tartas to take Paul into the family home, while the government would rather keep Paul as a research subject.
