Plot summary
Noah Dearborn is a carpenter and farmer in Twin Pines, Georgia, living by himself without electricity. The townspeople hold him in high esteem, and Sarah McClellan, who runs a restaurant in town, cherishes him especially. A developer, Christian Nelson, sets his sights on Noah's land and wants him off it, offering him a six-figure sum for the property, but Noah turns the money down. Nelson draws in his girlfriend, the psychologist Dr. Valerie Crane, to help him pressure the craftsman, and the two men are set against each other over the land and the way of life Noah has built there.
