Plot summary
In Cairo, archaeologists Steve Banning and Babe Jenson are out of work when Banning spots a broken vase in a bazaar and reads its hieroglyphs as a clue to the tomb of the Egyptian princess Ananka. At the Cairo Museum, Dr. Petrie supports Banning's theory while professor Andoheb dismisses the piece and breaks it. The American stage magician Solvani agrees to finance an expedition for a share of what it finds, and his daughter Marta, warned by Andoheb that the two men are frauds, doubts the investment. The group sets out for the Hill of the Seven Jackals, where a high priest keeps the mummy Kharis alive with a brew of tana leaves to protect Ananka's tomb.

- Peggy Moran had to be on set at 6am to do hair and makeup, with filming beginning at 8am and occasionally running as late as 4am the next day; she said contract players like her could be worked all the time because the legal hours limits applied only to outside talent.
- Tom Tyler, who played the mummy Kharis, had to be at the studio at four in the morning, and co-star Peggy Moran said she never saw him out of his make-up, because he couldn't talk while wearing it.
- Cost-cutting on The Mummy's Hand meant using stock shots taken from the 1932 film The Mummy, leftover sets from James Whale's Green Hell, and a musical score almost entirely lifted from Son of Frankenstein.
