The Jesse Owens Story (1984) on Netflix

Plot summary

Lew Gilbert, a reporter, interviews Jesse Owens and his coach while the press looks into a tax evasion case against Owens and a $10,000 payment tied to a political campaign. In flashback, Owens is spotted at high school, where no athletic scholarship exists; a caretaker job for his father at Ohio State University gets him into college and onto the track team. He breaks records at once, and segregation laws keep standing in his way. At the 1936 Berlin Olympics he shares free advice with rival athletes on improving their performance, and German competitors, despite their Nazi indoctrination, take to him while he dismisses the bigotry.
