Plot summary
On a stormy Manhattan evening, radio broadcaster Larry Lawrence uses his program to expose the crimes of the underworld boss Frenchy Duval. Listening in her hotel suite is Mary Carter, who receives a visit from Parada, a Cuban solicitor, and the deed to an inherited plantation and mansion in Cuba. She decides to sail there and inspect it. Frenchy invites Larry to his hotel on the same floor; a gun goes off and Larry, believing he has killed a man, takes cover in Mary's open trunk, which is locked and carried to the harbor. His valet Alex follows him aboard. At sea, Larry and Mary begin a flirtation, and Geoff Montgomery describes Caribbean voodoo, ghosts and zombies.
