Plot summary
The CIA operative Dr. Elissa Cardell hires a Special Ops unit under Captain Mack to pull her father, the scientist Lee Wesley, out of an archaeological dig beneath the Middle Eastern desert. The dig was suspected of hiding weapons. At the surface the team meets a priest covered in boils, and Doc, the team's medic, sedates him. Click gets the site's elevator running and finds a reference to the Gehenna Project. Mack leaves Nickels above to fix the communications gear and guard the priest, then takes the rest of the unit down the shaft, where a scientist marked by the same boils attacks them.
