Plot summary
Ditch Brodie's jump school is under close watch by the FAA, and he still makes a stunt jump from a skyscraper. A nervous woman named Chris Morrow comes to the school and insists on a static jump from cruising altitude; she flirts with him until he agrees to take her up himself. During the flight, Chris cuts her ties and jumps without him, and he cannot reach her before she hits the ground. Investigators shut the school down. Feeling guilty and confused, Ditch goes through Chris's belongings and finds a key to her apartment, where a photograph shows her making a jump, though she had told him she was new to the sport. Kerr attacks him there, and Ditch fights him off. Assistant District Attorney Ben Pinkwater then tells Ditch that he could face a manslaughter charge.
