Plot summary
Eric Staufer, a college student and old friend of Mystery Inc., has built a computer game out of the gang's past adventures and an experimental laser, and has invited them to see both before the campus science fair. A virus from the game, the Phantom Virus, has taken a lifelike form, attacked Eric, and been driven off by Professor Kaufman with a high-powered magnet. The gang looks into possible suspects: Eric, Kaufman, Bill McLemore, Eric's friend and a baseball-loving programmer, and Officer Wembley, the campus security guard. The Phantom Virus appears again, and someone turns Eric's laser on the gang, who land inside the game. To get out, they must find a box of Scooby Snax on every level.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Scooby-Doo! and the Cyber Chase (2001)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Cyber Chase was the very last thing released under the Hanna-Barbera name, seven months after the studio was folded into Warner Bros. Animation. It is dedicated to William Hanna, who died on 22 March 2001, and was the final project he and Joseph Barbera executive produced together.
- It was the first Scooby-Doo film in the direct-to-video series made with digital ink and paint, and the fourth and last one animated by the Japanese studio Mook Animation.
- Director Jim Stenstrum first proposed shooting the scenes inside the video game with live-action actors, an idea dropped almost at once. Under heavy time pressure the production also needed extra help, giving the film the largest list of storyboard artists of the first four.
