Plot summary
Detective Andy Devereaux and his new partner, Stan Johnson, work beside Pepe and Barney, detectives tied to the death of an agent who was working undercover in narcotics. Corruption in the New Orleans police keeps growing, and FBI Agent Brown, looking into it, raises his concerns with Police Captain Friendly, who tells him the department's troubles are being handled. Nina Ferraro, a police therapist, holds successive interviews with Andy, Stan, Pepe and Barney and tries to help them with their struggles, with little in return. Andy draws her particular interest; his father, a detective as well, was killed while on duty.
