Plot summary
Joe Lightcloud, a Navajo rodeo rider, comes home to the reservation in a white Cadillac convertible. He talks a congressman into letting him and his father, Charlie, have twenty heifers and a prize bull, so the two can prove that cattle ranching can work on the reservation. If the experiment succeeds, the government will help all Navajo people. Joe's friend Bronc Hoverty ruins the prize bull, and Joe sells the heifers to pay for plumbing and other improvements at the home of his stepmother, Annie Lightcloud.

- Elvis Presley made his record producer Felton Jarvis promise never to release "Dominick," the song written for him to sing to the bull, though it is sung to two women in the film without the bull. It made its first CD appearance in 1994, after both men had died, having come out unauthorized in 1982 as "Dominick the Impotent Bull."
