Plot summary
In 1867, John O'Hanlan and Harley Sullivan have worked the Texas cattle ranges as partners for ten years. An attorney writes from Cheyenne, Wyoming, that John's brother D.J. has died and left him the Cheyenne Social Club. The two men ride north a thousand miles to claim it. At the lawyer's office John is handed $1,100 from the past month's profits and learns what he now owns: a high-class brothel, standing across the railroad tracks from the rest of town. Jenny is its madam. John wants no part of such an operation, so he gives the women notice, and both the women and the town's men turn against him.
