Anne Seymour

Anne Seymour was an American character actress whose career moved among radio, Broadway, film, and television. Born in Manhattan into a theatrical family, she trained at the American Laboratory Theatre and began performing professionally with the Jitney Players. She appeared in four Broadway productions, including At the Bottom and Puppet Show in 1930, The School for Scandal in 1931, and Sunrise at Campobello as Sara Delano Roosevelt. After her radio debut in Cincinnati in 1932, she played leading roles in serials such as A Woman of America and The Story of Mary Marlin. On television she worked in soap operas, starred in the series Empire, and was a regular on The Tim Conway Show, with guest spots on Perry Mason, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Bewitched, and Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Her films included All the King's Men (1949) as Lucy Stark, Pollyanna (1960) as Amelia Tarbell, and Misty (1961) as Grandma Beebe. She died in 1988.
