Boggy Creek II: And the Legend Continues (1983) on Netflix

Plot summary

A sheriff's call about a Bigfoot-like creature sighted outside a remote town in southwestern Arkansas brings Dr. Brian Lockhart, a professor of anthropology, to investigate. He recruits students Tim and Tanya and Tanya's friend Leslie, and the group drives near Boggy Creek, where they make camp with a pop-up camper trailer and set a SONAR perimeter. Lockhart questions the locals, who mostly meet him with resistance and disbelief, and relays stories of earlier encounters: rancher W.L. Slogan, whose herd vanished; Otis Tucker, who met the creature while fixing a flat tire; a retired attorney whose outhouse was attacked; and Deputy Williams, who fought the creature behind his home after a fishing trip. Lockhart is directed to Old Man Crenshaw, who lives along the river bank in a shack, and the group leases a boat to reach him.
